OBR Construction are subcontracting under Erith on the next large project within the decommissioning phase of the Trawsfynydd Nuclear Site. 

 

The project involved civil engineering work within the two main reactor buildings to prepare the site for its 70 year care and maintenance plan, which aims to have the site fully decommissioned by 2083

OBR work items include

 

Demolition of internal walls 

Cladding and supporting steel work

Removal and install of new security doors throughout

Coring new ventilation pathways

Install of new staircases 

Setup temporary electrical supply to support the project 

Working within radiation controlled areas

Working within asbestos controlled areas 

Specialist coating to waterproof structure

Concrete repair to RC structures 

 

We have also undertaken additional projects within the site as main contractor to assist the decommissioning such as:

Installing ducting around the perimeter of the site

Demolition of buildings

Waterproofing of structures 

De-watering of reactor basement 

Installing of handrails
