We are currently seeking a Quantity Surveyor apprentice. This is an opportunity to work within an exciting industry in a rewarding role, for a company based in Anglesey North Wales. Apprenticeship is an excellent way to gain valuable experience in the industry, while also undertaking your academic studies. Detailed knowledge of past and current building and construction technology, processes, materials, business and legal matters.
Billingual Welsh and English
Responsibilities
Prepare tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities with the architect and/or the client
Undertake cost analysis for repair and maintenance project work
Assist in establishing a client's requirements and undertake feasibility studies
Perform risk, value management and cost control
Advise on a procurement strategy
Identify, analyse and develop responses to commercial risks
Prepare and analyse costings for tenders
Allocate work to subcontractors
Provide advice on contractual claims
Analyse outcomes and write detailed progress reports
Value completed work and arrange payments
Maintain awareness of the different building contracts in current use
Understand the implications of health and safety regulations.
Academics
There are many paths available to you as an apprentice dependant on your current situation. One of our current Quantity Surveyors had a previous degree in Computer Science but changed career and studied a Masters degree in Liverpool John Moores in Quantity Surveying which was a 1 day a week for 2 years. Another of our apprentices has just completed his NVQ lv4 and is progressing to a undergraduate degree. As an employer, we will cover the cost of your academic fees and salary while you study. This should give you the freedom to concentrate on your studies and become the best you can be. This enthusiasm and knowledge will then feed directly back into OBR and help us grow and maintain our modern approach to Construction. The right candidate will have a strong background in STEM subjects as well as a practical approach to problem solving. Strong communication skills are essential and the ability to work to tight deadlines.
